Bahrain update: 5 July : children's rights are no longer cocooned in Bahrain.
According to UNICEF Convention on the Rights of the Child, a child means every human being below the age of eighteen years unless under the law applicable to the child, majority is attained earlier- article No.1- States Parties shall assure to the child who is capable of forming his or her own views the right to express those views freely in all matters affecting the child, the views of the child being given due weight in accordance with the age and maturity of the child- article No.12- The juvenile court in Bahrain ruled Ali Hassan, 11 years old, to be monitored by a social worker for a year and his charges have not been dropped yet.₁
Moreover, more than 5 young men were arrested after raiding their houses in Sanabis, Bani Jamra, Qaryah and Sitra, and for those who were not arrested they had their share of beaten.₂ 2 witnesses confirmed to the court that Mr. Mahdi Abu Deeb, the founder and leader of Bahrain Teachers' Association, was tortured in jail.₃ whereas Nabeel Rajab, Head of BCHR, trial was postponed to 16 July.₄
After arresting his wife, Fakhreyah Ahmed, the Pakistani husband Ahmed Akhteer is threatened by Ministry of Interior to be deported, and still their house is besieged since yesterday.₅ Also, Moi has banned AlWefaq march that is supposed to take place on Friday noon.₆
