Tonight my prayers and thoughts are with the Aoun Family, a story of endless suffering, strength & determination
We 1st heard of the Aoun from Samaheej village thru the story of their son Hassan, arrested a total of 5 times
I was honored to meet Hassan, but tho he smiled I knew he was not happy
wat hurts much more than being imprisoned, is to have ur loved ones in jail, both Hassans brothers r still in prison
unfortunately his brothers imprisonment is not the worst of Hassans fears right now...
Hassan was released on the same day I was, after a very long and difficult imprisonment
Ahmed Aoun, Hassans 17 yr old younger brother, could loose his eye in prison
Ahmed was participating in prodemocracy protest, he was shot at with birdshot
Despite fear of being targeted in hospitals, Ahmed had no choice but to seek help
Ahmed, 17 yr old political prisoner, cannot see from his eye, and is in alot of pain, but still being denied treatment
Ahmeds family dont know what to say or do when their son calls home saying "plz do something, I will loose my eye"
Jaffar, the eldest of the brothers, is also imprisoned with Ahmed, he cant do anything to save his brothers eye either
whenever Jaffar complains or demands to be transferred to hospital, he is taken to Samaheej police station
torturer Yousif Mulla Bkheet who has tortured all 3 brothers waits for them in Samaheej police station
While Hassan is released, I know his heart is in that prison cell with his brothers. His prayers are for them
Hassan does not know how long it will be til he is re-arrested. Yet he smiles, and says "we must carry on"
with a birdshot pellet still inside his eye, civilian clothed police arrested Ahmed from hospital
2 days after his release Hassans family heard riot police on the streets shouting "come out son of Aoun, u cant hide"
Hassan sacrificed so much but he hopes his younger brother will not have to sacrifice his
Meanwhile Ahmeds eye is getting worse, he has fainted several times from pain & the prison admin r watching him suffer
